Jacob Brix

Jacob Brix is a new Professor of Innovation & Management and Staff Manager at Aalborg University Business School. He is a member of the Strategy, Organization and Management Research Group (SOM).

Jacob BrixEducational background and work experience

Jacob holds a PhD from Aarhus BSS and an Industrial PhD from the Danish Technological Institute. Prior to his new position at AAUBS, he has worked as Assistant Professor at the Department of Business and Technology at Aarhus University and later as Associate Professor at the Department of Culture and Learning at Aalborg University.

Jacob has been visiting scholar at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in Lithuania, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in USA, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea, and at NTNU in Norway.

In 2018-2020 Jacob was part of the Dean’s Talent Program.

Field of research

Jacob does qualitative and multimethod research on how public and private organisations can create balance between exploration and exploitation – this by relying on the theories of ‘Organisational Learning’, ‘Organisational Ambidexterity’ and ‘Co-Production’.

The empirical areas of inquiry of Jacob’s research are most often innovation-related projects; both in the public and the private sector.

Besides being a member of the SOM research group at AAUBS, Jacob is also affiliated with the Cluster Dynamics group at Aalborg University lead by Professor Henrik Halkier.

Staff Manager

Jacob’s role and responsibility as Staff Manager at AAUBS is – in close collaboration with the heads of the research groups – to create the best possible conditions for career development for all Research Assistants, postdocs, Assistant Professors and early-stage Associate Professors.

Private life

Jacob is married to Marie Brix who is Senior Manager at PwC in Aalborg. Together they have 8-year-old Carl who is in the 2nd grade at Klostermarksskolen in Aalborg.

Jacob loves cooking, especially in his out-door woodfired oven. The reviews given to Jacob’s food are “mixed”.
