External funding at AAU Business school

Research support at AAU

Your local research supporter Berit Klitgård Jakobsen is always your first point of contact when you initiate a fundraising process.

The local research supporters and the Fundraising and Project Management Office (F&P) coordinate the support of researchers at AAU in order to create a professional and coherent research support structure. The F&P Office focuses on prioritised funding sources and provides specialised support, whereas the local research supporters assist with applications and are specialised in fundraising at their department.

Each faculty has one or two designated partners at F&P. Together with the department’s local fundraiser, the partner(s) and F&P specialised advisers comprise the core of the AAU funding support framework.

F&P partners at Faculty of Social Science are: Nicolaj Tofte Brenneche and Ulla Egidiussen Egekvist.

    • Providing easy assess to guidelines for preparing applications.
    • Facilitating internal collaboration of applications when relevant.
    • Assistance in preparing budgets (budgets must always be approved by the business school financial controller before submitting an application) and other administration-related parts of applications.
    • Providing or facilitating feedback and internal reviewing when relevant.
    • Facilitating assistance from AAU Innovation - Funding and Project Management when relevant.
    • Gathering and making accessible relevant experiences from past application processes.

When Aalborg University Business School is not the main applicant, but is invited to join as partners/co-applicants, the assistance may depend on level of involvement in the application process. Assistance in the post award/project implementation process

In the post-award phase, Aalborg University Business School provides support in terms of:

    • Assistance in the contract negotiation phase – including facilitating contact to relevant staff from AAU Innovation - Funding and Project Management.
    • Providing administrative support for project management and reporting – in collaboration with AAU Innovation - Funding and Project Management for complex projects.
      • Expenses for administrative support should be covered by the project budget.
      • The business school does not provide full-time administrative project leaders if such are needed (but can provide assistance in recruitment processes).

All employees involved in funding activities (pre- as well as post-award) must adhere to a set of principles and guidelines to ensure coordination, quality, transparency, and availability of the necessary resources.

Applications for external as well as internal grants must always be cleared with the business school’s financial controller in order to:

  1. Provide an overview of implications for teaching tasks and planning of teaching.
  2. Make sure that the budget includes all relevant costs.
  3. Provide an overview of the business school’s future financial situation and obligations.
